Max Verstappen set the pace on the opening day of the 2024 Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain, comfortably topping the timesheets for Red Bull. The reigning world champion posted a blistering lap time of 1:30.577, well ahead of his rivals.
McLaren's Lando Norris emerged as the surprise challenger, finishing a distant but impressive second with a lap time of 1:31.032. The British driver was ahead of both Ferrari cars, with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc finishing third and fourth respectively.
